Establish/Discontinue Service

The following information will help streamline the process when establishing or discontinuing service with Madison Utilities. If you have any questions, please contact our Customer Service department at (256) 772-0253.

Establish Service

To establish service, you must come to our main office at 101 Ray Sanderson Drive. You will need to have the following things with you:

  • Driver's license
  • Social security card
  • Rental or Purchase Agreement

You will need to be prepared to pay a deposit and the new service fee at the time that new service is being established.

Deposits:

  • $150 per meter

New Service Fee: $50

New Construction
Prior to applying for your building permit, you will need to apply for water/wastewater services. Please apply in-person at our main office located at 101 Ray Sanderson Drive. Once the fees are paid, you can take your receipt to City Hall (Planning, Engineering & Building Department) to apply for your building permit.

Second Meters
Having a second meter for lawn irrigation can reduce your wastewater bill. Because water used in lawn irrigation does not flow into the sanitary sewer, we do not charge a wastewater fee for the second meter. Discontinue Service

To discontinue or transfer services, please contact our Customer Service department at (256) 772-0253 or via email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. You can also discontinue your service by coming by the main office at 101 Ray Sanderson Drive during office hours or by using our online customer feedback form. You are responsible for all account charges until you have notified us of any changes to your account.

Change Contact Information
